IgniVox Presents:  The River of Light, a site-specific event using the Hudson River as an innovative venue for community, fire, music and dance orchestrated on both water and land. Produced in a three year cycle with funding by NY State, “I Love NY” and Dutchess County Arts Council.

Taking place on the Hudson River and interweaving music, audience participation, dance, spectacle and theatrical elements, this event remains a cherished local series in Tivoli, NY, although this basic formula could be taken elsewhere.
Witness this unique fusion of sound, fire and light with the waters and sky of the Hudson River creating one of the regions most unique experiences.

Descent to the Flaming Heart 2007

This year’s ROL begins with a procession, moving through a series of performative “stations” to the Hudson River with the audience journeying through a flaming heart banner and ending with a fire performance atop an eight pole set in the river. The point of this journey is to enlarge the heart, not constrict it, in the face of whatever pain or joy we experience.

Planet Sturgeon 2006

A drum circle of planetary energies surrounding a giant floating Armillary sphere, burned away to revealing a metal sturgeon, a living icon of the Hudson River.

2005 Inaugural River of Light

The premiere of The River of Light, a vigil of water, fire, light and sound to celebrate the life and peoples’ of the Hudson River with a floating stage, pyrokinetic sculpture, live music and lighted kayaks.
